Arthritis & Alkalinity – Works Wonders

Millions of adults are living with arthritis, a painful and movement-impeding condition that can adversely impact the quality of life. Topical creams, acupuncture and medications are some of the common ways that people seek out to get relief, but one overlooked option is alkaline.

It is believed that people who suffer from arthritis could alleviate the symptoms by consuming alkaline water or adopting an alkaline diet. Arthritis patients usually have high levels of toxins and acid in their bodies. It thus seems logical that by reducing the levels of toxins and acidity, these patients could potentially lessen the severity of the pain associated with arthritis.

Some experts believe that alkaline water can help reverse the state of discomfort associated with arthritis since it assists in balancing the body’s pH and getting rid of toxins. A primary reason for increased acidity levels in the body is diet. Other factors that could also result in high levels of acid include contaminated food and drink as well as pollution.

When the acid level increases, it robs our muscles and bones of alkaline minerals. As these minerals continue to decline, there is a risk that the patient could develop acidosis, a condition that is conducive to arthritis.

Alkaline Water As Cure

One of the possible benefits of using alkaline water is that it acts as an acid neutralizer. Since the human body is composed of 70% water, any positive change in this composition could result in a positive result on the body’s pH. As the levels move in the direction of alkalinity, arthritis may no longer have a suitable environment in which to manifest itself.

Another advantage of alkaline water is that it is useful in assisting in balancing bodies on the cellular front. The cells require water to remove toxins and to absorb nutrients, but overly acidic water will compromise the process. Experts recommend that people drink no less than a couple of quarts of water daily for peak health. Of course, it needs to be alkaline water since tap and bottled waters are acidic and will not provide the expected benefits.

Arthritis Balance7 Health

There are some simple remedies that can be used to use alkalinity to improve symptoms of gout and arthritis. These include:

1. Baking soda mixed in water

This is known to relieve gout joint pain instantly as well as reduce high levels of uric acid. Give it at least two days to experience relief but when taken regularly, this can be an excellent strategy for preventing future attacks. You simply need to mix 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 8 oz. of water and drink it all in one go. During acute attacks, you can take up to 4 teaspoons that should be divided throughout the day. Keep in mind that this should not be overdone since baking soda can increase blood pressure and may not be recommended for patients with hypertension.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar

Clinical evidence suggests that apple cider vinegar can reduce join pain, stomach acid, headaches, gout, arthritis, and muscle spasms. You can mix 1 to 2 tablespoons of vinegar with 8 oz. of water and drink it all in one go. The taste can be fairly bitter and strong so some people prefer to sip on it. However, best results have been observed if taken in one go.

3. Lemon Juice and Baking Soda

This drink is also known to work miracles for people with gout and arthritic pain. Use one lemon (or 2 oz.) for one tall glass. Then add 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and once the fizz and bubbles have settled down, stir it and add 8 oz. of water. Drink it immediately and all in one go.

Alkaline Diet

The alkaline diet, which can be followed for a month at a time, is a diet that avoids food like citrus fruits, sugar, coffee, some types of grains, coffee and nuts. While there are no large-scale studies that confirm whether or not the alkaline diet really helps relieve arthritis pain, most people have benefited from it. It may be possible that weight loss as a result of the diet may be responsible for the positive improvement in arthritis patients. Losing weight can possibly reduce the stress on their joints, which could in turn help ease the arthritis pain.
